Zelda Fitzgerald Bio Play Zelda at the Oasis to Run at Off-Broadway's St. Luke's Theatre

Famed starlet Zelda Fitzgerald is at the center of Zelda at the Oasis, starring Gardner Reed and Edwin Cahill. Directed by Andy Sandberg, the new play by P.H. Lin will begin previews on November 16 at off-Broadway’s St. Luke’s Theatre. The production will open officially on December 4.

Set on a magical night in the 1930s, Zelda (Reed) discovers a New York City bar called The Club Oasis, where she escapes to drink alone. But when when she meets an aspiring musician (Cahill) who tends the bar and plays piano, the duo forms an unexpected friendship. As they chat, Zelda transforms the Bar Man into people from her past who have shaped her own self-image. The play focuses on FItzgerald's desire to escape her husband's (The Great Gatsby author F. Scott Fitzgerald) shadow and be hailed for her own artistic credibility.

Reed will make her New York stage debut in Zelda at the Oasis. Her regional stage credits include Find and Sign, Inga Binga, The 39 Steps, The Crucible and The House of Yes. Cahill has appeared on Broadway in LoveMusik and in the national tour of Sweeney Todd. His off-Broadway credits include Beowulf, A Child’s Christmas in Wales, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Asylum, I and Albert and Darling of the Day.

The creative team for Zelda at the Oasis includes set designer Colin McGurk, costume designer Dustin Cross, lighting designer Grant Yaeger and sound designer Daniel Melnick.
